Being A Good Speaker?

CATEGORIES OF PUBLIC SPEAKING

BEFORE DELIVERY THE SPEECH
· Knowing topic – A good speaker should do research deeply on particular topic before deliver it to audiences.
· Analyzing of the audiences’ background – A speaker should know the audiences’ background in terms of intellectuality, religion, beliefs, interest, and knowledge. It is very important for the speaker to have effective strategies to attract their attention towards his or her speech.
· Knowing the details of particular ceremony – in terms of venue, time, and situation.
· Preparing the text and practice the speech well.

DURING DELIVERY THE SPEECH
· Introducing yourself briefly (if necessary) – normally the chairman introduce the speaker.
· Having well introductory – it shows the audiences that the speaker has self-confidence in delivering the speech.
· Using appropriate level of language based on audiences’ understanding – it makes audiences easier to understand the speech.
· Non-verbal communication – such as body language, visualization, mimicking and many more. These non-verbal communications help the speech more effective and interesting.
· Giving good respond to any feedback from audiences.
· Rise and walk to the lectern.
· Take a deep breath and exhale slowly.
· Smile
· Establish eye-contact.
· Wait until audience is quiet.
· Being speaking – you are in control.

AFTER DELIVERY THE SPEECH
A speaker must have self-confident and self-possessed in answering audiences’ questions and responding all feedbacks from them.
